In the 2023 fall “Freedom of Expression'' Art class, one of the projects the Roaring Fork High School students worked on was a class-wide collaborative painting. Keely taught the class with Guinevere Jones. She led this painting, and guided the process as a practice of: letting go of outcome, listening to and trusting our bodies, responding to each other, and strengthening our understanding of color, value, and movement. She vocalized welcoming uncertainty and discomfort. The students were split into four groups and assigned colors to start. Through time, more color mixing occurred, smaller brushes were introduced, and collaging was encouraged. Every student painted. The outcome could not be predicted, and is an expression of relationship.
